The Perfect Cup at Home.
1. Buy the freshest coffee beans available. Get enough to last you for a week to two week's time. Store beans in an airtight container on the counter.
2. Grind just before brewing. Adjust grind according to brewing method. Fine grind for espresso, medium grind for drip brewers, on up to a course grind for press pots.
3. Measure 1 arched tablespoon per 6 to 8oz (8oz = 1 cup) of water for most brewing methods. Vary according to taste. Some experimentation required.
4. Remember, brewed coffee is about 99% water. We recommend always using cold, tap-filtered or bottled water. Bring water to just before boiling.
5. Gold filters yield the best extraction and are the most cost effective. If you use paper, look for "oxygen-whitened" or unbleached filter papers. Rinsing papers before use will minimize paper flavor.
